SOUTH AMERICA MINING INVESTMENTS S.A.C.
Responsible mining in Peru; focused on the exploration, development and exploitation of gold, silver and copper mines.
We are currently operating the Breapampa gold mine. Breapampa is an open pit mine, with an ADR plant for the recovery of gold and silver. It was acquired in February 2017 and we restarted production in April 2017.
We have identified four oxide gold exploration targets within the Breapampa mining concessions. Additionally, based on diamond drilling, a sulphide ore body has been recognized just below the current open pit.
SUSTAINABILITY
Taking care of our communities
The main objective of our community affairs program is to identify, understand and manage social implications of mining activity.
Our social programs are designed to contribute to the growth and development of the communities surrounding our operations.
Taking care of our environment
We dedicate significant resources to maintain the highest standards of environmental protection and conservation; implementing different control and mitigation procedures.
We have maintained and implemented different programs, such as: programs of adaptation and environmental management (PAMA), water and air quality management, solid residue control, among others.
Taking care of our people
We value above everything else the safety and health of our employees. We promote safe and healthful workplaces for our workers in order to prevent death, diseases and injuries from mining work .
At SAMI, we maintain a policy of constant training and supervision to reduce occupational risks.
ABOUT SAMI
South America Mining Investments SAC ("SAMI") is a private enterprise created in 2016 with the purpose of developing a portfolio of mining assets in Peru through the acquisition of small / medium size operating mines or projects close to production, but that have the potential to take them to greater capacity and profitability.
Our focus is to conduct responsible mining: respecting the environment, the communities that surround us, our people, and local regulations.
At SAMI we have a team of highly qualified people with many years of experience in Peruvian mining, as well as in the exploration and exploitation of gold, silver and copper deposits.
OPERATIONS
Breapampa Mine
Breapampa is a gold/silver open pit mine located in the Department of Ayacucho (Southern Peru).
It was acquired by SAMI in February 2017 and we restarted production in April 2017.
Compañía de Minas Buenaventura operated Breapampa between 2012 and 2015, and it was declared as non-core asset in 2015. SAMI acquired all the assets and mining concessions.
The extracted ore is taken to the crusher and then taken to the heap leaching process.
The pregnant solution goes through a gold and silver recovery process using carbon in columns as part of the ADR plant.
In addition to extracting ore from the open pit, we are recovering gold and silver from existing heap leach piles.
We identified four oxide gold exploration targets within the Breampama mining concessions (8,800 hectares). The main one is the area called Palcahuasi. Palcahuasi is located 6km away from the current leaching pads and the ADR processing plant.
Other interesting targets are Pucagallo and Senccata, both of which already have inferred resources based on diamond drilling carried during previous years.
The long-term future of Breapampa is the exploitation of the sulphide ore body that lies below the current exploitation pit. Based on 3,739 meters of diamond drilling, it has been possible to identify a sulphurized body that is still open at depth and sides.
The next stage of exploration will consist of executing an exploratory ramp, which would then serve as the main access during the exploitation stage.
